Course Content
This is a two day event with MTC experts on hand to guide delegates through the process of selecting the most appropriate technologies, implementing them and pitfalls to look out for. Delegates will experience hands on sessions with the latest technologies such as Kuka’s iiwa collaborative robots, ABB’s RobotStudio simulation tool linked HTC’s Vive virtual reality headset and Shadow Robot’s Dextrous Hand.
Session 1 – Describe best practice and the safe use of collaborative robots and workspaces by Raphael Grech:
    • Main challenges with existing manufacturing processes
    • Human robot interaction technologies (HRI)
    • Intelligent and adaptable automation systems development for advanced manufacturing processes within a safe dynamic environment
    • HRI integration
    • Existing safety standards
    • Advanced robotic manipulators and intelligent sensing technologies
Session 2 – Approach to vision system design for inspection and robot guidance applications by Jugraj Atwal:
    • What is machine vision and where is it used
    • Types of 2D and 3D machine vision technologies
    • Importance of lighting
    • Case study of using a 2D machine vision system for a robotic pick and place system
    • Group task – Design a vision system
Session 3 – The use of Digital Tools to Increase the Efficiency of Implementation by Jeremy Hadall:
    • The use of advanced simulation tools to develop automated systems to a high degree of certainty
    • How to use visualisation tools (such as virtual reality) to inform design decisions and communicate ideas
    • How to program in the off-line environment
    • Tools & techniques for translating off-line programs into real world systems that work first time
    • Understand the benefits and limitations of virtual commissioning

    • Getting started with your robot tooling
