News Subject: Hitting the bullseye – industry hot shots make their mark at the Antalis Review 2017

Over 500 entries, 13 categories, two overall winners

Always a highlight of the creative calendar, this Thursday (21 September) saw the design and print community come together once again to commend this year’s best in class at, undoubtedly, one of the biggest and best Antalis Review events yet.

Now in its 26th year, this year’s Review received a record 500-plus entries – with a panel of four industry experts going on to choose the crowning champions of thirteen categories, along with an Overall Best In Print and Overall Best In Design. In addition to receiving a special award at the glittering ceremony held at the Flight Club in London, winners will appear in highly-coveted The Review book.

And the winners are…..

Taking the top spot for the absolute Overall Best in Design category was The Office of Optimism for ‘The White Review No 19’, printed by the Push Print on Olin Regular Natural White.  Hailed as a ‘cultural revolution’, The White Review No 19 was commended by the judges for its strong handling of type and great image placement, resulting in an accomplished, highly impactful publication.

Also in prime position for the Overall Best in Print was Gavin Martin Colournet for ‘Embassy Gardens Property Books’, as designed by Jaques Vanzo. Using Olin Smooth Absolute White both for the cover and text material, the piece was praised for its considered choice of coloured paper stock, combined with edge printing, focused finished and overall excellent execution.

Ian Webb, Marketing Director at Antalis, comments: “As always, the aim of this awards is to reward and recognise those printers and designers who continue to go the extra mile when it comes to pushing boundaries in the creative concept in a way which excites, entices and inspires. While we always receive a fantastic response to the competition, this year really was outstanding – we had over 500 entries and the quality of work was truly exceptional which is testament to the sheer level of talent we have in our industry. We’d like to thank all the designers and print customers who entered this year and recognise every single one, as they answered our brief to ‘’Make Your Mark’.”

David Hunter, Regional Managing Director for Antalis UK, adds: “We have run these awards for more than a quarter of a century, and once again we have been amazed by the combination of creativity and use of technology, to create truly eye-catching design and print. It is inspiring to see our materials form part of such impressive work, combining creative flair and commercial sensitivity.  Congratulations to all of the immensely talented people whose work won an award – and thank you to everyone who took the time to submit their work to be judged.”

All entries received were judged by an independent panel of experts from the world of design and graphic arts.  The judging panel for the 2017 Antalis Review Awards included: Maaike van Neck MA HEA, course leader BA (Hons) at Ravensbourne College of Design, Jeremy Coysten, partner at North, Jon Bailey, CEO of ProCo, and Tom Banks, editor of Design Week.
