The European Community has produced a great deal of legislation, particularly in and since the late 1980s with the aim of removing technical barriers to the free movement of trade. A number of Directives have been published which cover a wide range of sectors including automotive, chemical, construction products, electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and others. A comprehensive list is available at: Single market for goods - Regulated sectors
Some of the Directives are known as New Approach Directives and have CE Marking requirements such as the Machinery Directive, Low Voltage Directive, Pressure Equipment Directive and the Radio and Telecommunications Directive.
