Medical packaging machinery company Shawpak has launched a four side seal (4SS) pouch machine that it says, will transform the industry norm for packaging flat medical products. The addition of the 4SS machine allows the company to offer a complete portfolio of packaging solutions in the medical and pharma arena. “This is another Shawpak packaging solution that will transform the industry norm of how it has always been done,” says Tony Crofts, sales director at Shawpak.
Developed, designed and created by Shawpak, this new packaging machine is one of the latest developments within the Shawpak portfolio. It is designed to pack flat products to a maximum thickness of 5 mm in packs up to 600 mm x 340 mm and can produce outputs in excess of 4000 packs per hour.
The machine can also be utilised to make a 3 side seal open pouch, allowing medical device customers to make their own pre-made packs to hand fill and seal. “Incorporating the latest technologies and functionality helps to ensure high efficiencies and low maintenance,” says Crofts. Other features include a compact design which allows a small footprint, saving valuable floor space, and utilising modular assemblies for quick changeovers and improved accessibility.
The company says that understanding customer user requirements and limitations in the current standard market solutions, was key in the development of the 4SS machine. Making it easy to use and incorporating low cost tooling, were just some of the benefits and features that have been incorporated.
