As part of our continual drive to encourage more young people to take up a career in engineering, we recognise the importance of STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects, which are crucial for their academic development and future of UK manufacturing. As such, we are now able to offer virtual STEM days too.
It is widely recognised that there is a shortage of engineers in the UK; therefore, our PPMA BEST ambassadors are committed to raising the bar to provide students with greater opportunities to participate in STEM-related activities.
Currently, engineering has little presence in the national curriculum across the devolved administrations of England, Scotland, and Wales; coupled with a reported shortage of STEM teachers; these limit students’ knowledge of what opportunities might be open to them.
To help bridge the education gap, PPMA BEST works with secondary schools and colleges to offer FREE interactive one-day workshops to help all students make better-informed decisions about their subject and career choices.
Each workshop is often sponsored by a PPMA member company to enable students to meet with experienced engineers and technicians from across the processing & packaging, robotics, and automation, or industrial vision industries.
